FAQs - Answers to All Your Tire Service Questions

1) What Are the Different Types of Tires Available?

From seasonal and driving performance to tires for different types of vehicles, there's a wide range of tires available for every Monroe or Florence driver. Some of these include all-season, winter, summer, performance tires, and more.

2) How Do I Choose the Right Tires for My Vehicle?

You'll want to figure out what size tires are right for your vehicle. Then, you'll need to determine what type of tire matches your driving habits and environment.

3) What Do the Numbers on the Sidewall Mean?

Most tires have a tire code on their sidewall. It should look something like P215/65R15 95H. This code helps you identify the tire type (P), tire width (215 mm), tire aspect ratio (65), tire construction type (R), wheel diameter (15 inches), load index (95), and speed rating (H).

4) How Often Should I Rotate My Tires?

Most service technicians encourage drivers around Harrison, Amelia, and beyond to rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, especially if you don't change your tires for the winter/summer.

5) When Should I Replace My Tires?

You should have your tires replaced if they are damaged in any way, have a tread depth of less than 2/32 inches, or are more than six years old.

6) What Are the Signs That I Need New Tires?

You'll need to buy new tires if you see any bulges, cracks, or dings. If your tread depth is too low or your tires can't hold their tire pressure, it's a good sign they need to be replaced.

7) How Do I Check My Tire Pressure?

  • Find a tire pressure gauge (many gas stations have one available)
  • Remove the air valve cap on the tire
  • Press the tire gauge on the open valve and hold for a second or two (you'll hear a hiss)
  • Read the pressure gauge and compare the number to your recommended tire pressure
  • Inflate or deflate accordingly and replace the valve cap

8) What is the Difference Between Run-Flat Tires and Regular Tires?

If you happen to run over something and your tire is punctured, you'll be glad you spent the extra money on run-flat tires (RFTs). Run-flat tires have a reinforced sidewall that lets you safely drive for a short amount of time when a puncture has happened.

9) What Are the Benefits of Tire Balancing and Alignment?

Balancing and aligning your tires helps you keep your vehicle running strong. You'll find less wear, better fuel efficiency, and a smoother ride.
